Dentville Volunteer Fire Department, formed in 1996, is located at the intersection of Dentville Road and Strong Lane in northwestern Copiah County.  Our response area encompasses a five-mile grading district and the adjoining response areas of Crystal Springs, Hazlehurst, and Smyrna Volunteer Fire Departments.

The department has 16 certified volunteer firefighters and one career firefighter.  Of these firefighters, 11 are certified first medical responders and 5 are Haz-Mat Techs.  The department has approximately 10 non-certified members who volunteer their time and energy as support personnel.

We have one engine that holds 1,000 gallons of water, two tankers that hold 2,000 and 4,000 each, one rescue/brush truck that holds 250 gallons, one portable pond pumper and one rescue vehicle.  The rescue vehicle is equipped with miscellaneous emergency medical equipment, including oxygen and an AED. The engine is equipped with extrication equipment.

Dentville Fire Protection Grading District has been assigned a rating of Eighth Class by the Mississippi State Rating Bureau on June 17, 2002.  This rating resulted in a decrease in insurance premiums for the residents of the Dentville Community within the five-mile grading district.

The entire Dentville Volunteer Fire Department is dedicated to serving the community in a rapid professional manner. We continuously train to improve techniques and experience in fire suppression, rescue operations, medical response, hazardous materials, safety, and fire prevention.

Regular business meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month, and regular training meetings are helt at 7:30 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of each month and are open to the public.
